Maschek are preparing to get back on the stage.
The comedy trio – who excel in satirical lip synchronisation – will perform their new programme "101010 – Ein revolutionärer Fernsehtag" at the Stadtsaal in Vienna on several nights of the coming weeks. In "101010 – Ein revolutionärer Fernsehtag", Maschek put a close eye on what TV stations broadcast on 11 November 2011. The programme follows their hit "090909 – Ein katastrophaler Fernsehtag" which was based on television company’s offers on 9 September 2009.
Maschek (www.maschek.org) consist of Peter Hörmanseder, Robert Stachel and Ulrich Salamun. The gifted performers have managed to create a totally new kind of entertainment by dubbing news reports, political platform discussions but also television entertainment programmes. Their ideas can turn a serious occasion into a rather hilarious event – and the other way round.
Maschek pounced on political and clerical leaders, actors, singers and sporting heroes over the years. They performed at various Austrian theatres but also to sold-out crowds across German-speaking Europe. Maschek’s brilliance delights TV consumers as they appear at many of Austrian broadcaster ORF’s comedy programmes on a regular basis. However, Harald Schmidt, the German king of late night, invited them to appear on his show several times as well.
Maschek’s shows have been praised as "ingenious and rich in variety" by the press. German newspaper Münchner Merkur lauded the Vienna-based trio as the "masters of live synchronisation" while other critics made aware of their intelligent approach to stage entertainment. The Esslinger Zeitung endorsed Maschek’s "excellent micture of video art, comedy and political satire". Austrian bestseller writer Thomas Glavinic even identified himself as a "Maschek fanatic".
"101010 – Ein revolutionärer Fernsehtag" is not the only upcoming highlight of the Stadtsaal’s programme. Several other acclaimed Austrian spoken word artists like Gunkl, Gernot Kulis and Josef Hader will perform at the Stadtsaal in the coming weeks as well. Visit www.stadtsaal.com or call +43 1 909 22 44 for ticket information.
The Stadtsaal developed into one of the city’s most popular stages since it started operating last year. It is located at walking distance from the Volkstheater (www.volkstheater.at; +43 1 521 114 00), one of the most prestigious theatres of Austria.
The Volkstheater offers extraordinary plays this season. Robert Prinzler proves to be one of the most versatile young members of the theatre’s ensemble in "Jagdszenen aus Niederbayern" by late writer Martin Sperr. Simon Mantei delivers an excellent performance in the drama play directed by Schirin Khodadadian.
Prinzler plays the intellectually disabled outsider of a small village inhabited by mostly ruthless and narrow-minded people. Mantei plays a young man who finds himself pushed to the edges of society rather because of this homosexuality than other issues such as his troubles to find work.
Famous musical drama "Die Dreigroschenoper" (The Threepenny Opera) directed by Volkstheater boss Michael Schottenberg, "Hotel Savoy" starring Rainer Frieb and Matthias Mamedof and "Die Reise" are currently on at the theatre as well.
