Children injured falling into ventilation shaft

Two children were injured after they fell down a three metre shaft whilst playing in a courtyard in front of their home in Vienna, Austria.

The nine and twelve-year-old girls fell down and got trapped in the ventilation shaft which was above an underground garage after it gave way.

Rescuers were able to free the girls and take them to hospital.

Police spokesperson Adina Mircioane said: "The girls are not in a life-threatening condition."
